We all understand the benefits of traveling, studying or working abroad. Besides seeing, learning and experiencing a new place you can learn much about yourself and your long term goals. But did you know this international experience has been shown to actually make you more creative, flexible and more likely to succeed?

Opening tomorrow, May 30 and running through December 31, 2014 "Inventions: 2014 Student Showcase" will feature a range of inventions by MIT graduate and undergraduate students all of which were created for courses, clubs or just for the fun of it. Chosen from submissions by a variety of MIT departments and labs, these projects exemplify MIT's legendary values of creativity, ingenuity and practical problem solving.

As part of FGLP participants have the opportunity to sit in on a university class or visit a local high school. In addition to getting to interact with students their age this is a wonderful opportunity to view a different style of learning. This experience is often cited as one of the highlights of the trip. Why? While many things are similar in the United State and Japan, one thing we just about always hear after these visits is the striking differences in the classroom environment.
